Mykhailo Bilas Museum
In 1992, in the very center of the resort of Truskavets - on Kobzar Square, 3 - the art museum of the world-famous artist Mykhailo Bilas was opened, whose name is known on all continents and is recorded in over a hundred publications and editions in different languages of the world. This is the first lifetime museum in Ukraine, and it is significant that it was opened in the city where the great master's family originates and where he now lives. The museum is located in one of the most beautiful houses in Truskavets, the old villa "Goplyana", built at the end of the 19th century, the magnificent decoration of which harmoniously fits into the picturesque landscape of the city.
Mykhailo Bilas is a multifaceted and extraordinary artist. His hands weave tapestries, carpets, sacks, loungers, as well as embroidered napkins, paths, pillows. He is a master of textile plastic, figuratively expressive toys, the author of unsurpassed plot applications and panels. At the same time, he is a subtle colorist, a "composer of color." His style and skill were influenced by the experience and culture of a weaver, embroiderer, painter, graphic artist, and folk craftsman. The artist's creative output already includes four hundred personally executed works, which were exhibited at many personal exhibitions in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kaniv, as well as foreign ones - in Russia, the Baltic States, Canada, Belgium, Yugoslavia, and the United States of America.
But Mykhailo Bilas does not stop there, because his talent is deep and inexhaustible. The high title of People's Artist of Ukraine inspires the artist to create new works and new exhibitions both in Ukraine and abroad. Visit the museum and get acquainted with the works of our compatriot Mykhailo Bilas. You will be amazed at the author's ability to select colors in tapestries and decorative flowers, and you will be fascinated by embroideries and appliqués. You will plunge into the world of rainbow colors, Hutsul and Boyko weddings, visit the Kosiv bazaar, smile at the "Horse" and the cow "Krasulka", fall in love with the "Boykovskaya Madonna", bow your head before the tapestries "Panakhida" and "Nevolya" and sing along with the birds "Night Concert". We guarantee that you will be overcome by an unearthly feeling of happiness, elation, warmth and energy, you will fill your soul with the richness of the color of folk sources. You will experience all this in the halls where the works of Mykhailo Bilas are exhibited.
And the museum itself invites you every day from 10:00 to 18:00 except Monday.
